Our Engagement

Phil Zen Design cares deeply about our planet and creating a business that not only limits its environmental footprint, but also gives back to nature. We work with suppliers who are engaged in reaching highest environmental standards, and also partner with One Tree Planted to plant trees and make an impact! Since we started our partnership we planted over 400 trees... and counting! (APR 2021).

One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit dedicated to global reforestation. They plant trees to restore nature and biodiversity. They also raise awareness about the importance of trees, offer businesses like ours a simple sustainability solution, and motivate younger generations to do something positive for the environment.

Why are trees important to the environment?

Trees help clean the air we breathe, filter the water we drink, and provide habitat to over 80% of the world's terrestrial biodiversity. Forests provide jobs to over 1.6 billion people, absorb harmful carbon from the atmosphere, and are key ingredients in 25% of all medicines.

Reforestation's benefits can be outlined under the following 6 pillars:

6 pillars why trees are important One Tree Planted & Phil Zen Design

One Tree Planted plants trees working with a global Network of partners who are knowledgeable about local ecology. They only plant local tree species, grown nearby nurseries, and planted when conditions are optimal for tree survival.

Through their partnerships with the U.S. Forest Service, U.S. State Forest and Conservation District, One Tree Planted is able to plant trees in many regions across the United States, including California, Colorado, Florida and Oregon.

The California Project

Five years of drought and a large-scale bark beetle infestation have seriously damaged California’s forests. 2017’s record-breaking wildfire season burned more than 1.3 million acres – an area the size of Delaware. 2020's fire season has consumed close to 3 million acres, resulting in hundreds of millions of trees that will need to be restored.

Phil Zen Design currently supports California's reforestation project.

For every purchase you make, you plant a tree. Thank you!
